Advocacy, Lobbying, and Legislative Impacts on Design

Please join us and our friends at AIA and ASCE for a special Lunch meeting to learn about how what happens in Columbus affects how we design in Cincinnati.

David Field will discuss recent legislation such as House Bill 153 (Public Construction Reform), Historic Tax Credits, the 2011 AIA “Day at the Statehouse”, and how it came to be that Architects and Engineers now have a smaller voice in the Ohio Board of Building Standards due to lobbying efforts of other organizations.

Steven Regoli will discuss the inner workings of the Ohio Board of Buildings Standards (OBBS), the Status of the 2010 Ohio Building Code (where is it?), and how state law dictates how the OBBS must modify the IBC model code for use in Ohio. 

Cost will be $20 for members of SEAoO, AIA and ASCE, and $25 for non-members.
